Head back downstairs to the Generator Panel, use the Valve on the first pipe, then rotate the valves so the kg/cm reading shows 11. Open the locker to get some nails, then head to the back and up the stairs to get Basement Map and Valve. ![]() Head down the hall to find Maria’s Diary Bon a table, then continue down the hall, grab the morphine and use Crowbar on the door to access the Generator Room. In here you’ll receive your first two weapons, Nailer from the priest, and Crowbar on boxes in the back. After the cutscene, run down the hall away from Wheelchair and enter X-Ray Room. Here we’ll see our first enemy, Wheelchair. Proceed down the stairs and go underneath to find Hex Socket in a locker. Return to the East Wing Corridor and follow it around until you find a bulletin board where you can find E-F1 Map. You can also get a vial of morphine in the cabinet, a recording tape near the desk and save your game here if you like ( Registry ). In here you can get Plastic Heart Part (Left) from a container on the bench. Take the first left into Waiting Room, grab some nails on the bench, and walk through to Examination Room. Equip this and you can now head down the corridor. Walk around the corner to find a Lighter. With indie games, there are always compromises that have to be made to launch a title, and I think Dual Effect struck the best balance it could here.In the corridor, you have a chance for another trophy by walking into the darkness and dying ( Death ), however, doing so you will start the game again. ![]() The biggest issues with Tormented Souls seem like they stem more from a problem with budget more than the devs’ ability. Exploring Winterlake Hospital channeled all those feelings of dread and loneliness that made those games special and proves that the format still works. I’ve wanted a new Silent Hill (or classic Resident Evil) game for years, but I’d trade all the drama and disappointment for a fantastic spiritual successor like this any day. Tormented Souls is the successor to classic survival horror. I’ll always say there is room in any genre for another solid entry, and that’s what you get here - a great survival horror game built with intentional classic/retro design. This game does not try to advance the genre it doesn’t do anything particularly new or better than previous champions of the genre have, but for all that it does, it does it very well. This was the kind of game that once I got the hang of it (I have not played many survival horror games at all) I became enthralled with playing and exploring every area and uncovering all the secrets and story material I could. Tormented Souls gets way more right than not, and I came away from it very impressed.
